UnknownMy dress was a simple ivory silk column from Charlie Brear. I loved wearing it: it was so comfortable, effortless and fluid. I'm a bit of tomboy and happiest in lycra, so it was perfect.

UnknownInstead of a traditional wedding cover-up, I took the plunge and opted for this cropped leather jacket, also by Charlie Brear. Sadly, I lost it at our wedding party!
4
UnknownMy shoes were these lovely nude slingbacks by Nicholas Kirkwood. The low-cut front was ultra-flattering, and the low heel meant I could dance all night long (a must, I love dancing).

UnknownMy 'engagement' ring was actually a ring my mother gave me. She'd been given it for her 21st. The ring Mark proposed with is made out of a first edition of a book he gave me, and is so delicate I can't wear it every day. So my mum gave me this – and now I have two very special rings!

UnknownAs my something borrowed, Mark's mum lent me her diamond earrings. My overall look was very clean and simple, so these complemented it perfectly.

UnknownWe both opted for simple gold wedding bands (mine was white gold and 2mm wide, as it fitted best with my mum's ring).
8
UnknownMy best friend (who acted as my maid of honour AND the photographer) surprised me with this super cute garter. She customised it with some Ross tartan and an embroidered crab (Mark's surname is Crabbie).

UnknownMy flowers were by Jack Fleuriste. I fell in love with her modern, quirky and 'free' style immediately. We worked together on ideas and she came up with this fern-filled, seasonal bouquet. My favourite part is the ornamental cabbage.

UnknownShe also made these sweet buttonholes for the boys.

UnknownI did my own make-up on the day, as it was easier than trying to do loads of make-up trials in Edinburgh (we live in London). I had a session at Bobbi Brown, then practised loads. Primer and spending plenty of time on my base was key, but eyeliner proved a challenge with wobbly hands!

UnknownAnne-Marie McElroy did my hair. I had a trial with her and liked her immediately. Picking a stylist you feel at ease with is key.

UnknownI opted for a low bun with some snowberries in it. It was way too windy to wear my hair down on the day!

UnknownMark surprised me with a wedding present: an illustration of the view from the room in New York where he proposed. He's far more romantic than me.

UnknownMy mum helped me into my dress - I was terrified of getting make-up on it!
16
UnknownMy mum, dad and sisters made me laugh and helped calm my nervous in those last few moments before the vows.

UnknownMeanwhile, Mark was larking around outside with his best man, Drew. He wore a traditional kilt. I love kilts!
18
UnknownMy dad (pictured walking me down the aisle) also got a new kilt for the big day. I was OK until I heard the piper strike up, and then I really got the wobbles. My dad's words of wisdom? 'Chillax.' Sure.

UnknownWe had a registrar perform the ceremony and I laughed the whole way through. I think having such a small day meant we could both just relax and be ourselves. My friend Lee played me down the aisle, and my mum and Mark's brother did readings.
20
UnknownRight before this moment, Mark accidently said: 'I don't' (the registrar used a double negative when asking the crucial question). But we got there in the end!
