For those of us that are still heavily invested in Yellowstone's Dutton family, and the history of how the Montana family came to be (as explored in the prequels 1883 and 1923), will be glad to know that both series are now available to stream on Netflix. 1923 opens a new chapter in the Dutton saga, tracing back the family's fight for survival in a rapidly changing America. The first season follows their struggles as Prohibition; The Great Depression and drought begin to grip western America.
What begins as hardship soon escalates into a battle for legacy, as external threats from rival ranchers and industrialists threaten to destroy everything that Dutton’s' have worked for. Leading the cast are Harrison Ford and Helen Mirren as the patriarch and matriarch of the family, whose performances anchor the season alongside new age Dutton’s (Brandon Sklenar, Darren Mann, Michelle Randolph and more), as well as other characters in and around Montana.

Who is Jacob Dutton? The patriarch of the Dutton family, he is the brother of 1883's James Dutton. Jacob takes over when both James and his wife, Margaret pass away. Formidable and stern, he'll do anything to protect his loved ones and the ranch.

Helen Mirren as Cara Dutton
Who is Cara Dutton? The matriarch of the Dutton family, Cara is married to Jacob. She migrated from Ireland to help her husbnd run the Yellowstone Dutton Ranch.
Who is Helen Mirren? She is an English actor who has featured in several successful projects for the past six decades. She is best known for featuring in Hitchcock, The Cook and Prime Suspect.
Brandon Sklenar as Spencer Dutton
Who is Spencer Dutton? Spencer is the youngest son of James and Margaret Dutton. He is also a WWI veteran who went on to become a big game hunter in Africa, but returns with Alex, to help stabalise the family's ranch.

Darren Mann as Jack Dutton
Who is Jack Dutton? He is the son of John and Emma Dutton, and works closely with Jacob in maintaining the farm. He is engaged to Elizabeth.

Julia Schlaepfer as Alexandra (Alex) Dutton
Who is Alexandra (Alex) Dutton? A member of the British Royal family, Alexandra quickly becomes accquainted with Spencer on a safari in Kenya. The pair elope and return back to Montana.

Timothy Dalton as Donald Whitfield
Who is Donald Whitfield? A wealthy businessman living in Montana, Whitfield's objective is to take ownership of several ranches including the Yellowstone, to transform into a tourist destination. Like Banner, he has a personal and professional vendetta against the Duttons.

Who is Banner Creighton? Originally a Scottish sheep farmer, Banner has long been feuding with the Dutton family over land disputes. To help his cause, he enlists the help of Whitfield to help him take down the Dutton’s.
