From the very beginning of season three of And Just Like That, there were questions aplenty for all who worship at the altar of our favourite Manhattanites: would Carrie and Aidan make it? Did we even want them to? Whatever is Miranda doing taking the virginity of a Nun (yes, really)? And would we ever get another Samantha Jones cameo? Despite what critics and fans made of it, it got us talking in all of its cultural lightning rod glory.

Now, showrunner Michael Patrick King has confirmed the Sex And The City spin-off will end with season three, and a special two-episode finale.

The series was greenlit for a third outing in August 2023, but the fate of future remained unclear as HBO never officially confirmed that a fourth series would happen, but in interviews with ELLE UK, the cast of the spin-off remained optimistic.

What had Sarah Jessica Parker said about a potential fourth season?

Asked by ELLE UK on May 29, 2025 about a potential fourth season, Sarah Jessica Parker (who plays the titular Carrie Bradshaw) said that she didn't know. 'We [her and Michael Patrick King, the show's creator] haven't had that conversation yet,' she said, adding that she always 'waits to hear.'

'We talk about what he feels is most compelling and does that exist for him and us, and then we decide that maybe we don't have this right now, or it's not enough,' she confessed.

As for when Parker would know the time is right to hang up Carrie Bradshaw's Manolos once and for all, she told ELLE UK that it would be a 'complicated conversation' with King.

'That will come when Michael and I sit down and talk about what stories are demanding his time and attention and fantasies,' she said, noting that it will be a 'substantive conversation about "Well, what now?"'

Why did they decide to end And Just Like That?

In an instagram statement on August 1, showrunner King said they all felt it was time, writing:'And just like that… the ongoing storytelling of the Sex And The City universe is coming to an end. While I was writing the last episode of And Just Like That… season three, it became clear to me that this might be a wonderful place to stop. Along with Sarah Jessica Parker, Casey Bloys and Sarah Aubrey, we decided to end the popular series this year with a two-part finale and extended the original series order from 10 episodes to 12.

'SJP and I held off announcing the news until now because we didn’t want the word "final" to overshadow the fun of watching the season. It’s with great gratitude we thank all the viewers who have let these characters into their homes and their hearts over these many years.'
