Has Stranger Things season 5 wrapped filming?
As of December 2024, filming on the final season of Stranger Things officially wrapped, per Netflix's Tudum.
'We’ve been telling this story for nearly a decade now,' the series' co-creator Ross Duffer wrote in a lengthy Instagram post. 'Many of our cast members joined us when they were kids, just ten or eleven years old. It wasn’t just a show for them — it was a defining part of their childhood. They’ve grown up before our eyes, becoming more than actors — they’ve become family. But it’s not just the cast we consider family. Our crew — many of whom have been with us from the very beginning — holds a special place in our hearts. Their dedication and passion have been the backbone of this journey. Everyone involved was determined to bring this story to a satisfying conclusion. They poured their hearts and souls into it, and we couldn’t be more proud of what they’ve accomplished.'

What’s Stranger Things season 5 about?
The series' creators Matt and Ross Duffer previously told Tudum that they wrote a 25-page mythology document for Netflix back in season one that delves into the mythology and lore of the Upside Down. 'We were like, "We know what’s going on in the Upside Down, more or less, but we want it to be unknowable. We want it to be mysterious,"' Matt Duffer explained. 'But they were like, "Yeah, but can you write it down?" And so we wrote it all down.'
While we learned more about the Upside Down in the fourth season, there’s definitely more to come in season five. 'The last remaining questions that are answered in that document, we’ve punted a couple of those to have some big reveals in season five,' Duffer told audiences during Geeked Week in June 2022. 'And that’s really going to affect what season five is about.'
