He may no longer be married to her mother, but Antonio Banderas' bond with his stepdaughter Dakota Johnson, is still achingly apparent. So apparent, in fact, that the Zorro actor, has now teased a collaboration with Johnson.

'I would love to,' Antonio told E! News on February 6 when asked if he'd like to collaborate with his stepdaughter. 'I would love to, but that's something that is very difficult. I will search for [a project], but I would love to work with Dakota someday.'

The Paddington in Peru star, whose new film was released on Valentine's Day, clarified that he'd like to work with the Madame Web actress 'not just because' they’re family — but also because of her talent.

'It's because she's a good actress,' Banderas said of his stepdaughter, who made her acting debut in the first film he directed, 1999's Crazy in Alabama. 'She's a good actress in many different ways, because she's a great comedian, too.' He added that 'maybe [they could do] a comedy someday' together.

The Lost Daughter actor had spoken openly about the special bond she shares with Banderas. 'I come from a family of many a marriage and I got very lucky,' Johnson said at the 2019 Hollywood Film Awards, where she presented Banderas with the Hollywood Actor Award for his performance in Pain and Glory. 'I got a bonus dad who I realised that, over time, is actually one of the most influential people in my whole life.'

Banderas married Johnson's mother, Melanie Griffith, in 1996 when Dakota was 5 years old. The couple later split in 2014, they share a daughter Stella Banderas, who is the half-sister of Johnson.
