The Watcher is all anyone on the internet is talking about right now, after Ryan Murphy's latest true crime dramatisation dropped on Netflix. And while the story behind the show has fans hooked, some have been taking to social media to criticise how the series ended, insisting it was a frustrating anti-climax.

Following on from the controversial The Jeffrey Dahmer Story, Ryan Murphy's latest Netflix series is The Watcher, a retelling of a wild real life story. As the synopsis explains, 'A family moves into their dream home, only to be plagued by ominous letters, strange neighbours and sinister threats.'

The series follows Bobby Cannavale and Naomi Watts as the main characters, who, shortly after moving their family to a house in New Jersey, start receiving anonymous threats asking them to leave.

The Watcher quickly shot into Netflix's Top 10, but some fans have been taking to social media to criticise how the show ends. As one savagely put it, 'The ending of The Watcher might be hands down the worst ending to any piece of cinema I’ve ever had to see. All the directions they could’ve went and THAT is how they end it? Utterly horrible. [sic]'

Someone else said, 'Just finished The Watcher on Netflix and I’m so mad at the ending' and 'The ending of The Watcher? I’m going to smash the TV.'

Another added, 'The Watcher was barely a 6/10. Wtf is that ending? They completely lost the plot #thewatchernetflix.'

The Watcher is now available to stream on Netflix.
