Yesterday morning, our hearts endured a fleeting moment of sorrow when we saw pictures of Justin Bieber and his fiancée Hailey Baldwin crying on the side of the road in New York City.

At first, fans of the pair - who announced their surprise engagement last month - speculated they might be on the rocks, given the utterly distraught look on both their faces, wiping away tears from each other's cheeks and cradling their matching blonde locks.

However, the 24-year-old signer has finally spoken out about the pictures and has assured fans that him and Hailey are doing just fine.

The statement came as the 'Sorry' singer was spotted holding a copy of The Meaning of Marriage. The book, written by Timothy Keller, tells readers about what marriage should be according to the Bible.

You never know, perhaps there was a spoiler that upset Bieber?

Or maybe he was crying at the though of later having to get his hair cut?

The pair were photographed by the paparazzi visiting Cutler Salon in NYC following requests from fans for the Canadian crooner to cut his luscious long locks.

Justin confirmed his proposal to Haily last month on Instagram with a post of the duo, writing: 'My heart is COMPLETELY and FULLY YOURS and I will ALWAYS put you first! You are the love of my life Hailey Baldwin and I wouldn't want to spend it with anybody else.

'You make me so much better and we complement each other so well!! Can't wait for the best season of life yet!'

Hailey added in another post: 'Not sure what I did in life to deserve such happiness but I am so utterly grateful to God for giving me such an incredible person to share my life with!'

Well, at least it doesn't seem these two aren't splitting any time soon.
