If you met anyone from the royal family, what do you reckon you'd do? For most, it would probably involve fumbling about nervously with your hands, half-curtsying half-bowing, while stuttering out something non-sensical about 'loving your work'.

Unless you're 87-year-old Joan, from Shire Hall Care Home in Cardiff, of course, who wasn't bothering with any of that.

No, instead, Joan decided to tell the second-in-line to the throne Prince William that he did 'a bloody shitty job' at calling out the bingo numbers over Zoom back in lockdown. What a woman. What a brave, brave woman.

William and Kate took a joint trip to Wales on Tuesday, where they visited the seaside resort of Barry Island (of Gavin and Stacey fame) to hear all about how hospitality and tourism businesses have been coping throughout the pandemic. On the way back, they stopped in at the care home in Cardiff whose residents they played bingo with back in May, so they could all meet in real life.

But it seems the Duke and Duchess' efforts to be authentic bingo callers (they even threw in the traditional lingo, with the likes of "5 and 5, snake's alive") didn't impress all that much, because Joan had something to say about it.

Was this the moment Joan dropped the clanger?

Rebecca English, a royal correspondent who attended the outing, shared the anecdote on Twitter, explaining: 'William and Kate were in hysterics at Shire Hall Care Home in Cardiff, whose lockdown bingo they had taken part in via video. Joan, 87, said then that their calling "wasn’t as good as it should have been". When William reminded her today she said: "Yes, you did a bloody shitty job."'

Luckily, it doesn't seem William or Kate were offended by Joan's jibe laughing hysterically after the comment and then speaking to staff afterwards, Prince William said: 'I love Joan, she's brilliant. If only everyone was as honest as her.'

Can we also just take a second to appreciate these photos, of the Cambridges having a go on the slot machines in Barry's arcade. And visiting Marcos cafe, also featured in Gavin and Stacey, for a cuppa.

Right, that's it. I'm starting a petition to get William and Kate a cameo in the next Gavin and Stacey Christmas special.
