Though Meghan Markle's Suits journey ended when she announced her engagement to Prince Harry, and subsequent new job as a full time royal, the show itself is only just finishing.

The final season of the legal drama - which made Markle a household name long before she joined the royal family - is currently airing in the UK on Netflix.

In the fifth episode of season nine, Markle's on-screen husband Mike Ross - played by her friend Patrick J Adams, who left the show when the Duchess of Sussex did - makes a much-anticipated cameo.

Though Adams had previously hinted that Markle's character, Rachel Zane, would be mentioned in the episode he starred in, we didn't yet know the context.

Well now, we know the line the Suits' writers coined to give context to the paralegal-turned-lawyer character not returning with her husband. (Warning: Spoilers!)

When lawyer Katrina Bennett, portrayed by Amanda Schull, asks Mike how Rachel is doing, he replies: 'Good, in fact, if I told you how good you probably wouldn't believe me.'

Brilliant.

Fans of the show will recall that Markle and Adams both departed the show at the same time via adjoining storylines. After finally getting married - something that had been hampered by Mike's temporary prison spell - Rachel and Mike decided to leave New York City to open a legal aid clinic in Seattle, something very aligned to both of their values as lawyers.

In real life, both Markle and Adams have also found new jobs, had their first child and settled into married life - with Prince Harry and Pretty Little Liars actress Troian Bellisario, respectively.

Adams has taken on other roles including in the Amazon Prime series Sneaky Pete and short film We Are Here, which he wrote with Bellisario. The couple then welcomed their daughter in October 2018.

Here's to hoping somewhere in Windsor Castle, Markle is having a chuckle while watching the episode with Prince Harry on the couch.
