Kate Middleton And Princess Diana's Style: Every Time The Duchess Of Cambridge Twinned With Lady Diana Spencer

The Duchess of Cambridge wowed in a gold, diaphanous Jenny Packham gown while attending the 'No Time To Die' World Premiere in London. The Royal take on the 'naked' dress featured a cape and a 1980s-does-1940s design reminiscent of Princess Diana's 1985 silver Bruce Oldfield design.

Eagle-eyed Royal fans may have spotted that it appears Kate Middleton has transformed her late mother-in-laws earrings into an earring and necklace set. During a meeting with the President of Ukraine and First Lady Оlena, the Duchess of Cambridge paired her Gabriela Hearst blue dress with the reworked pieces that were gifted to her from husband William in 2010.

The earrings were originally a wedding gift to Princess Diana from Crown Prince Fahd of Saudi Arabia on her wedding day in 1981, and the mother-of-two went on to wear them multiple times since, seemingly proving them a favourite of Lady Diana Spencer's.

Mother-of-three Middleton referenced her husband's late mother once more at 2020's BAFTA awards. The 38 year-old wore a white and gold Alexander McQueen dress (previously worn by the Duchess in 2012) that resembled Lady Diana Spencer's own dress in the same colour palette that she wore to the German Embassy in 1986.

Middleton followed in Spencer's footsteps in Pakistan over thirty years later. Both women wore traditional shalwar kameez in bold colours and bright embroidery.

Middleton wore a Jenny Packham, emerald green, sequinned dress for a reception hosted by the British High Commissioner to Pakistan whilst Diana wore a similarly-hued glittering dress to The Diamond Ball At The Royal Lancaster Hotel.

After giving birth to Prince Louis, Middleton stepped out of the Lindo Wing wearing a red Jenny Packham dress. In 1984 Diana also opted for a red outfit with white neck detailing by to introduce the world to her son, Prince Harry, at St. Mary's hospital.

Both new mothers wore polka-dots for their first post-birth public appearances. Middleton wore a Jenny Packham blue dress to introduce the world to Prince George, whilst Diana opted for green to show off George's father, Prince William.

Diana wore an aquamarine shalwar kameez whilst in Pakistan in 1996. Many noted how similar the Duchess of Cambridge looked during her trip to Kuala Lumpur in 2012.

For her wedding to Prince Charles, then Lady Diana Spencer chose a gown designed by London-based husband-and-wife designers David and Elizabeth Emanuel, whilst Kate Middleton chose a simpler design by Sarah Burton for Alexander McQueen for her own wedding to Prince William thirty years later. Though simpler, Kate's dress reflected the shape of her mother-in-law's, featuring a v-neck and a full skirt.

Both mothers showed their penchant for white jeans. Kate wore a typically noughties, low-slung and bootcut version to Beaufort Polo Club in 2006, whilst Diana Spencer wore a slimmer cut pair whilst leaving a gym in 1997.

Kate Middleton looked like the spitting image of her mother-in-law in 2006. To attend the Sovereign's Parade at Sandhurst Military Academy to watch Prince William passing out as a commissioned officer the then 24-year-old wore a red coat and black accessories.The ensemble mirrored the red coat and black shoes Princess Diana of Wales wore during a visit to Leicester in March 1984.

During Diana, Princess of Wales' first visit to Wales in 1981, the then-20-year-old looked impossible chic in a camel and white outfit complete with veiled cloche and pie crust shirt. Echoing Diana's outfit, then 23-year-old Kate Middleton wore a beige coat and furry hat for the final day of the Cheltenham races in 2005.

Both keen skiers, Kate and Diana also appear to share a love of red skiwear, ensuring they stood out on the Swiss slopes.
