On the last day of the AW25 shows at Paris Fashion Week, a wardrobe staple has emerged with a fresh new guise as a flurry of top talent arrived at Miu Miu's mid-afternoon presentation wearing a classic Oxford shirt.
The button-down staple was given a makeover by Miu Miu favourite Emma Corrin, who wore a pink cotton style under a grey marl bustier with a blue skater skirt and knee-high socks.

Barbara Palvin, Joey King, Demi Singleton and Úrsula Corberó also followed suit in giving the preppy shirt a cool-girl makeover, each choosing to follow the decree from Miu Miu's SS25 catwalk and layer it with a jersey tube top. It's a fresh take on the layering that is commonplace for cotton shirts, but the 'boob tube' as championed by these stars feels more subversive than a bookish tank or cosy cardigan.
Also in attendance was Sydney Sweeney who had a different take for her Oxford shirt. The Euphoria star wore hers cropped and layered under a leather skirt suit, with the white shirt offering a gentle flash of abs. It was a more obviously classic styling move but still cut through with an edginess in its proportions.
The Oxford shirt has become definitive of the Miu Miu aesthetic, with its styles becoming a veritable fashion It-item when they first emerged on the SS22 catwalk. They've since featured heavily in the brand's collections and were a central tenet of the layered and loaded SS25 show, where they were tied and twisted among glossy leather, jersey pieces and with decorative belts slung from the waist. By contrast, not a single shirt made its way down the AW25 catwalk today. Instead, their absence was pointedly obvious as tailoring and skirt suits were worn sans blouson instead.
