The 15 Best Fruity Perfumes That Smell Like Summer — From Sultry Cherry to Zesty Peach
Meet summer's juiciest new scents.
Fruity perfumes are nothing new. In fact, many of the most iconic scents of all time (think Versace Red Jeans and JLo Miami Glow) feature punchy, fruit-inspired notes. In 2025, however, fruity perfumes have undergone something of a reinvention. They're no longer just zesty, joyful spritzes that sing summer all year round (though don't worry, many still do); they're sophisticated, modern, and balanced, never veering too sweet or cloying for everyday wear.
'The fruity family is all about juiciness and vibrancy,' says Emmanuelle Moeglin, founder of Experimental Perfume Club. 'Imagine the burst of flavour from a sun-warmed peach, the crisp snap of a freshly picked apple, or the tangy sweetness of summer berries. Fruity notes bring a playful energy to a fragrance: bright, uplifting, and instantly likeable. They can add sparkle to a composition when used in the top notes, or a succulent softness when blended into the heart.'
The Best Fruity Perfumes For Summer 2025 And Beyond
So, why do we love fruity perfumes so much? 'Fruity perfumes tap into something universal; our natural attraction to the scent and taste of ripe fruit,' she says. 'They're familiar yet uplifting, evoking happy, sensory memories: a picnic in the sun, a freshly sliced peach, the sweetness of berries warmed by summer air. There's an immediacy to fruity notes; they feel approachable, joyful and often energising, which makes them easy to love.'
Whether you’re after a succulent cherry scent to wear year-round or a juicy citrus fragrance to keep the summer vibes alive, there’s a fruity perfume for everyone in this edit of new and classic scents.
How Fruity Perfumes Are Made
While many fruity perfumes may feature the aroma of a single note, they are very rarely composed of just one scent. 'Fruity perfumes are often created using a blend of natural extracts and carefully crafted synthetic molecules to capture the aroma of ripe fruit; many of which can't be extracted directly from nature,' explains Moeglin. 'For example, the scent of peach or pear is built using accords of lactones, aldehydes or esters that mimic their juicy sweetness.' Perfumers rarely use fruity notes alone; they're balanced with other families to give structure and depth.
She adds that florals such as jasmine or rose can bring softness and elegance to a perfume, while citrus notes add brightness and freshness. 'To create a more sophisticated or lasting scent, woods, musks or amber can be layered underneath, grounding the fruity sparkle with warmth and texture.'
The Biggest Fruity Perfume Trends To Note For 2025
While fruity perfumes have always been popular, certain notes are set to be especially fashionable in 2025. 'This summer's fruits are stepping into a more refined spotlight,' she says. 'Velvety peach brings a sun-warmed softness, green-tinged banana feels unexpectedly elegant, and tart rhubarb cuts through with a crisp, mouth-watering freshness. Smoky-spiced cherry seduces with a darker edge, while pear, plum, passionfruit and guava lend a lush, exotic juiciness. Even strawberry returns with a sparkling, nostalgic charm.'
