There's an immediacy to fruity notes; they feel approachable, joyful and often energising, which makes them easy to love.'

'For example, the scent of peach or pear is built using accords of lactones, aldehydes or esters that mimic their juicy sweetness.' Perfumers rarely use fruity notes alone; they're balanced with other families to give structure and depth.
She adds that florals such as jasmine or rose can bring softness and elegance to a perfume, while citrus notes add brightness and freshness. 'To create a more sophisticated or lasting scent, woods, musks or amber can be layered underneath, grounding the fruity sparkle with warmth and texture.'
