Travis Kelce went Instagram official with Taylor Swift last night, and his carousel of couple photos gave fans plenty to pore over. One shot in particular—of the two at a restaurant—drew significant attention, as both Swift and Kelce’s phone lock screens are visible on the table. Their backgrounds are never-before-seen photos of them together—and one sparked engagement rumors among fans.
Swift’s lock screen appears to be a shot of her and Kelce during their Lake Como, Italy vacation in May 2024. Kelce is wearing what seems to be the same black checkered top he had on in paparazzi photos of the couple kissing on a boat.
But Kelce’s phone background has generated even more chatter. In his photo, Swift appears flashing her hand, prompting speculation the couple might have quietly gotten engaged. People noted, however, that the image seems to be from Swift’s July 6, 2024 Eras Tour concert in Amsterdam that Kelce attended. She is in a bodysuit, and he is in a white top.

Swift, who has been with Kelce for nearly two years, gave a personal update on the couple’s relationship status back in June. While visiting a children’s hospital in Hollywood, Florida, she told a patient, “My boyfriend is training here, so I just thought I’d come and see how you’re doing.”
Her calling Kelce her “boyfriend” quickly shut down persistent engagement rumors. In December 2024—months after Kelce’s lock screen photo was seemingly taken—a source told Us Weekly that Swift would marry Kelce someday, but she wasn’t ready yet.
“Taylor does feel like Travis is The One, but jumping in is not her style,” the source explained. “That’s just not how she does [things]. Marriage is a big deal, and she wants [it to be] forever.”
In mid-February, a source told Us Weekly that both Swift and Kelce were “on the same page about taking the next step” and getting engaged.
A second source added that “those close to them actually think [Travis may do it] while they’re on vacation [during his offseason].”
Fast-forward to this summer, and there’s been no engagement announcement. Instead, insiders have revealed how much the couple’s time out of the spotlight has changed their relationship—and how it has altered what parts of their love story they want to share publicly.
On June 4, a source told Us Weekly, “They are making fewer public appearances together because [their relationship] brings too much unwanted attention, but there isn’t trouble in paradise.”
And on July 1, a source told People that their private time together has “been a turning point for their relationship in a lot of ways. They’re incredibly happy and in sync. There’s a calmness and ease to their relationship right now that’s been really grounding for Taylor and Travis.”
The insider added, “Taylor and Travis are soaking up every minute of this slower season together. They’ve been splitting their time between New York, Nashville, and a few quiet getaways, just enjoying each other’s company without all the usual chaos. This kind of downtime is rare for both of them, and it’s really allowed their bond to deepen.”
