Demi Moore dressed like an Oscar frontrunner this evening. The Substance star, who is nominated for Best Actress in a Leading Role, stepped out at the Academy Awards in a custom Georgio Armani Privé gown covered in silver sequins. Working with her stylist, Brad Gorseki, she accessorized with matching earrings and a bracelet by Chopard and wore her hair down in soft waves.
This is Moore’s first Oscar nomination. When the nods were announced in January, the actress told Variety that she was still wrapping her head around the milestone. “I don’t know that I’m quite in my body,” she said. “Life has been full of contrast with all that’s been going on, such incredible highs and devastating lows. Last night a new fire broke out in Los Angeles [during the wildfires earlier this year], and I was on alert all night because it wasn’t that far from us. I’m feeling some deep humility on many, many levels.”
Moore won the SAG Award for Best Actress last weekend. In her speech, she spoke about how becoming an actress and SAG-AFTRA member as a teenager “gave me meaning, it gave me purpose, and it gave me direction because I was a kid on my own who had no blueprint for life, and I certainly knew nothing about acting.”
She added, “As a young actor, it was the casting directors and directors and producers who got me in the room to audition where I could feel you, and you could feel me and your feedback meant everything. It’s what helped me and so as these young actors who are having to do it all, I just encourage you, don’t lose sight of the human connection. That’s the work that we do. It’s to be connected to one another.”
