Patrick HarbronThe A Beautiful Mind director appears as himself, as he helms a sci-fi film in a New York studio lot. He’s also an old friend (if we can call it that) of Oliver’s, and has a strange connection to Sazz Pataki’s case. He directed her, and her stunt protege, during a film called The Ronkonkoma Project.

Melissa McCarthy
Patrick HarbronThe Bridesmaids and Gilmore Girls alum appears in episode 7 as Charles’s Long Island-based younger sister, Doreen, who has a knack for collecting dolls, giving her kids names that start with D, and, surprisingly, Oliver. That last part gets her into some trouble with his girlfriend, Loretta, and the two tussle it out in her living room.
Griffin Dunne
Patrick HarbronDunne, who appeared in My Girl and After Hours and directed Practical Magic and Joan Didion: The Center Will Not Hold, is the mysterious Dudenoff. He was the Brothers sisters’ film professor and also lived in the West tower of the Arconia.

When Oliver yells at a group of young kids in his way, McEnroe, supposedly a stranger on the street, answers with a display of own infamous temper. “Yelling at children? Are you serious?!” he shouts, then chases Oliver into the Arconia.
Paul Rudd
Patrick HarbronPaul Rudd returns! But wait, wasn’t his character last season’s murder victim? That’s right, but Rudd isn’t reprising his role as actor Ben Glenroy here; instead, he’s introducing Glen Stubbins, Ben’s Irish stunt double, which explains their uncanny resemblance.

Jane Lynch

Patrick HarbronThe Silicon Valley and Big Sick star plays a mysterious resident of the Arconia west tower. Charles calls him Christmas-all-the-time Guy because he never puts down his decorations. (We later find out, though, that all the decor is just freebies from his influencing job.)

Patrick HarbronBroadway star Daphne Rubin-Vega (who originated Mimi Marquez in Rent and appeared in the In the Heights film) joins as Inez, a resident of the west tower of the Arconia. She’s a potential suspect with a deep love for Brazzos.

Meanwhile, Werber has starred in the Netflix series Brand New Cherry Flavor and The Sympathizer earlier this year. Together, the actors portray twin sisters and directors called The Brothers (that’s their last name), who will helm the Only Murders film.
