"Untamed" Season 2: Everything We Know

Netflix’s latest crime thriller, Untamed, just premiered its first season, but it has already climbed to the streamer’s No. 1 spot. Eric Bana stars as Kyle Turner, a Yosemite National Park agent who discovers that his own history might be intertwined with a young woman’s death in the wilderness. The show was originally intended to be a limited series, but fans seem to want more—and the creators have more story to tell.

Here’s what we know so far about a second season of Untamed.

Has Untamed been renewed for season 2?

On July 29, Netflix announced that Untamed will return for a second season.

“I am absolutely thrilled that we get the chance to bring another season of Untamed to life,” Bana said in a statement, per Tudum. “The response to season 1 has been a testament to the incredible effort by our crew to deliver something truly unique. I can’t wait to take Kyle on his next journey. Massive thanks to Netflix, John Wells Productions, Warner Bros. Television, and our fans.”

What would season 2 of Untamed be about?

The first season followed Kyle Turner as he investigated the death of Lucy Cooke in Yosemite National Park following her fall from the infamous El Capitan. Lucy’s death is at first associated with a drug ring inside the park’s caves, but Kyle suspects there’s something else at play. He eventually learns Lucy was attacked by her biological father, Chief Paul Souter, who placed Lucy in an abusive foster home when she was a child. The show ends with Souter dying by suicide (and a few other dramatic twists)—but the case is finally closed. At the end of the season, viewers watch as Kyle turns his beloved horse over to Naya, and leaves Yosemite, seemingly for good.

Season 2 will follow Kyle as he investigates a different mystery in a new park.

“We’ve done Yosemite. What’s the next park that could feel different from that?” co-creator Elle Smith told Tudum. “Each national park has such a different cultural identity, geographical identity. Being able to explore those places through the case and through Turner’s journey is what's so fascinating.”

She continued, “Our theme has been that this park is our main character, this park is sort of alive. We do want to maintain that thread. Whichever park we choose will be a character and it will kind of play a role in Turner’s emotional frame of mind.”
