On Saturday, pop star Miley Cyrus shared a message to her followers and the citizens of Los Angeles, where multiple neighborhoods are now simultaneously battling wildfires. In 2018, Cyrus’s home was burned down in the Woolsey fires in Malibu, so Cyrus could relate to the feelings of devastation being faced by evacuees.

“This is a photo taken of my front porch in 2018 after losing our house in the Woolsey fires,” she wrote, sharing a picture of her burned out home. “It’s a feeling you don’t ever forget. Walking up to the door you would pass through daily; looking forward to being greeted by the ones you love like you always do but instead being met by a pile of ash and rubble.”

She continued, “My soul aches for those who are experiencing this devastation firsthand and I cry for my city. It’s beyond heartbreaking. Los Angeles represents ‘living the dream’ but the reality today is wreckage and destruction.”

The singer added that she was supporting the victims of the fires via her Malibu Foundation, which she helped establish in 2018, and plans to share links to other organizations as well.

“Time, resources and dedication from inside and outside of our community will heal us, but it hurts deeply for now,” the star concluded. “Love always, Miley.”

When Cyrus lost her Malibu home, she was living with her ex-husband, Liam Hemsworth. They and their pets came away unharmed. A number of celebrities have reportedly lost their homes this month, particularly in the Palisades fire, including Paris Hilton, Adam Brody and Leighton Meester, Milo Ventimiglia, Anthony Hopkins, and Julia Louis-Dreyfus.

A number of celebrities have promised to donate money or supplies to first responders and people affected by the fires, including Kim Kardashian, Jamie Lee Curtis, and Halle Berry. Actress Jennifer Garner has been working with non-profit World Central Kitchen to distribute food close to the Eaton Fire in Pasadena and Altadena, where Meghan Markle and Prince Harry were also seen volunteering.
