Glazed donut nails. Cinnamon cookie butter hair. Strawberry girl makeup. Blueberry blush. It’s no secret that Hailey Bieber has a knack for turning dessert-inspired beauty looks into viral sensations. Whatever sweet treat she draws inspiration from, it’s almost guaranteed to set the next big trend. At this year’s Met Gala, she debuted a new look we’re calling “tiramisu makeup”—and it’s poised to be the breakout beauty trend of the summer.
The look featured ’90s-inspired espresso-lined lips, sculpted cheeks, and a subtle tawny-toned smoky eye. “For Hailey’s Met Gala look, the inspiration was undone glamour with a focus on fresh, radiant skin and soft, tonal depth,” celebrity makeup artist Nina Park exclusively told ELLE. “I built subtle intensity on the eyes using warm brown shades from the NARS Koh Rong eyeshadow palette, layering the color gradually for a diffused, lived-in effect. Her bronzed, glowy complexion and defined nude lip balanced the structure of her tailored suit with a modern, effortless softness.” To achieve Bieber’s bronzy glow, she used both NARS products and Bieber’s own Rhode line, including the Rhode Peptide Lip Shape in Twist and Balance and the Rhode Pocket Blush in Sleepy Girl. Below, check out Park’s face chart.
The lip liner is what truly makes this look pop, and Park has some expert advice to achieve that flawless finish. “Use lip liner not just to define, but to enhance,” she says. “I like to slightly overline the cupid’s bow and bottom center of the lip to add fullness while keeping the overall shape natural. For staying power, fill in the lips completely with the liner before adding your lipstick or gloss. And always soften the edges with a brush or fingertip—no harsh lines, just a seamless blend.”
As for what’s trending this summer? According to Park, we’re entering the era of “skin realism.” “Think: sheer washes of color, strategic glow, and balmy finishes,” she says. “People are craving authenticity and comfort, and that translates to products that feel like skin, not makeup. That, plus warm, tonal shades—peaches, terracottas, and soft bronzes—will be everywhere.”
